Trapani, Stragusto celebrates street food • Front Page

Actuality

Five days dedicated to street food. Trapani is preparing for the sixteenth edition of Stragusto, an event that celebrates Mediterranean street food, scheduled from 24 to 28 July in the former Fish Market square. And this year the big news will be the stands dedicated to Palestinian, Greek and Hungarian cuisine.

A journey full of sensorial suggestions where taste, sight, hearing and touch intertwine and where you can taste typical products from different places on our peninsula and from foreign countries. The specialties that characterize the itinerary of the event are varied and for all tastes: from the typical dishes of Trapani and other parts of Sicily to the typical foods of Puglia, Tuscany, Marche and Tunisia.

The wine tasting area has been confirmed to savor the best local wines, guided by industry experts, in the splendid scenery of the Mura di Tramontana, a stone’s throw from the square, perhaps in front of one of the magical sunsets that Trapani can offer.

On the other hand, the objective of Stragusto, organized by Trapani Welcome in collaboration with the Pro Loco Trapani Centro and with the patronage of the Municipality of Trapani, is not only to recover and promote the great heritage of street food, the son of a gastronomic tradition and uses that are handed down between generations, but also that of enhancing for its enjoyment one of the most beautiful places in the city which thus becomes everyone’s heritage.

Food, therefore, as a vehicle for knowing, re-appropriating and making known pieces of our identity and our history in a context in which diversity and contamination become wealth to be enjoyed and shared in a universal language that overcomes all differences: social, linguistic , ethnic, economic.
