The investigation into the death of Thomas Christopher Luciani, killed last June 23 due to a drug debt with 25 stab wounds in the Baden Powell park in Pescara, is proceeding quickly. Yesterday, judge Roberto Ferrari validated the arrest of the two sixteen-year-olds under investigation who are accused of murder. According to those investigating «in competition with each other, they inflicted – we read in the provision of the David Mancini and Angela D’Egidio robes – a total of 25 blows with a knife on Thomas Christopher Luciani, drawn from vital areas of the body, causing his death, inflicting torture and operating with cruelty, acting on Luciani by kicking and spitting while he was lying lifeless on the ground”.

During the guarantee interrogation, the suspects made use of the right not to answer. The magistrate also ordered custody in IPM (penal institutions for minors) for both. Regarding this circumstance, the lawyer of one of the two suspects, Marco Di Giulio, declared: «We don’t know which institution he will be taken to because we are waiting to know the availability of the various institutions. It is an obvious measure, also given the whole story.” However, with regards to ascertaining the dynamics of the crime, the chief prosecutor of the juvenile court David Mancini has given the task of carrying out the autopsy on the boy’s body to the medical examiner Cristian D’Ovidio. The autopsy examination will be performed within sixty days.
Also on the investigation front, the images recorded by the surveillance cameras of an apartment building adjacent to the Baden Powell park were fundamental from the initial stages. However, they are not the only ones as investigators found them on the cell phone of one of the suspects. Precisely inside these devices the investigator found a selfie on a deckchair at the Croce del Sud establishment: shortly before they bought 10 euros of “grass”.

The murder has already taken place and the young man, after having changed and throwing away the murder weapon, takes a bath. Then the investigators note that he is “posing sitting on a bed in the bathing establishment”. It’s 6.21pm when the selfie is taken. The problem that was gripping him shortly before, namely Giuliani’s drug debt of 240 euros, takes a back seat. In these circumstances, the pact of silence was born within the group of six young people, broken in the hours following the crime by a key witness. “As we were walking,” one of the suspects said, “he said that this had to stay between the five of us.” Among the papers in the hands of the juvenile prosecutor’s office, a teenager explains: “We met Christopher who had to give money to …, which he said had become a question of respect.” And again: «We went near the silos to talk, Christopher asked why he brought his henchmen with him. Then we headed towards the small park in Via Raffaello Sanzio and I noticed that he… he had a small gun.”
