COMO – At the “Terragni” building, headquarters of the Provincial Command and the Como Air and Naval Department, the Ceremony for the 250th Anniversary of the foundation of the Corps was held.

The celebrations began today morning with the raising of the flag in Piazza del Popolo and the subsequent laying of a laurel wreath, in memory of the Fiamme Gialle who fell in service, at the military shrine of the barracks.

The ceremony was attended by the Prefect of Como Andrea Polichetti, the regional councilor Alessandro Fermi, the regional councilors Marisa Cesana, Anna Dotti, Sergio Gaddi, Angelo Orsenigo, the Mayor of Como, the President of the Province, the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Como Massimo Astori, the Consul General of Italy in Lugano Gabriele Meucci, the Police Commissioner of Como, the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, the Provincial Commander of the Fire Brigade, the Provincial Directors of the tax agencies, the Vicar General of the Diocese Monsignor Ivan Salvadori, the Director of the Territorial School Office of Como, as well as a representation of soldiers from the various specialties of the Corps and financiers on leave belonging to the National Association of Financiers of Italy.

After reading the message of the President of the Republic and the Agenda of the Commander General of the Guardia di Finanza, Col. Michele Donega addressed his affectionate greeting to the Fiamme Gialle Como in service and on leave, remembering and celebrating the 250 years of the foundation of the Corps.

They were then delivered some moral rewards to soldiers employed by the Como Provincial Commandwho have distinguished themselves in service operations in the main operational sectors of the economic-financial police mission and the fight against illicit trafficking.

HERE are the operational results achieved by the Como Provincial Command and the Air and Naval Operations Department in 2023 and in the first five months of the current year.

In 2023 and in the first five months of 2024, the Financial Police carried out 13,970 inspections and 406 investigations to combat economic-financial crimes and the infiltration of crime into the economy.

The inspection activities made it possible to identify a total of 132 tax evaders, i.e. those carrying out business or self-employment activities completely unknown to the tax authorities (many of whom operate through electronic commerce platforms) and 330 “off the books” workers.. Furthermore, 18 cases of international tax evasion were discovered, mainly attributable to hidden stable organisations, transfer price manipulation, fictitious tax residences and the illicit holding of capital across borders. There were 214 subjects reported for tax crimes, of which 7 were arrested. As a result of investigations delegated by the judicial authority, non-existent or high tax risk tax credits for construction and energy were also cautioned and reported to the Revenue Agency, as well as assets constituting profits from tax evasion and fraud were seized. tax, for a value of almost 57,000,000 euros. 42 proposals were made for the termination of the VAT number and cancellation from the Vies database, against economic entities characterized by tax risk profiles. 2 The 27 excise interventions made it possible to seize 965 kilograms of energy products. There are, however, 249 customs controls on goods introduced into the national territory in tax evasion, counterfeit or in violation of safety regulations. The 17 checks against illegal gambling made it possible to detect 5 irregularities against 3 subjects.
