LATINA – After the draw of the two Senior groups and the compilation of the calendar, together with the single Junior group, in a few hours the rosters of the 14 teams that will give life to the 1st City of Latina Trophy – Basket in Piazza, organized by the association will also be known The Friends of Basketball. FIP tournament sponsored by the Municipality of Latina. Latina will return to live the great basketball evenings from 1st to 21st July, a discipline with a great tradition in the Pontine capital and in the province. The game will be played in Piazza del Popolo, which will become a sports village with three match fields, two of which are reserved for mini-basketball, a 200-seat grandstand and a food area. The arena will take shape by the weekend. It will be a very representative sporting event of the province, from north to south, for a total of 40 games overall, played by 196 players (14 per roster).
As per the regulations, the composition of the teams is divided into bands, according to the category of militancy of the players, absolute for the female players.
Calendar in hand, there will be no interruption in the 21 days of the tournament, with the exception of the rule of two matches per evening (at 19 Junior and at 21 Senior), on July 13 with a single Junior match at 19 that will conclude the group stage, and on July 14, same time, with the first match of the Senior quarterfinals. For the rest it will be full immersion from sunset to late evening.
The only change to the match times on the inaugural day of the City of Latina Trophy, scheduled at 7.30pm and 9.30pm with the speech at 7pm by the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi and the mayor Matilde Celentano, followed by the presentation of the 14 teams participants. In the Junior category, the winning team will receive the prize in memory of Pino D’Alessandro, for years provincial president of CONI, a great promoter of Pontine sport.
