Cosenza-Sibari completed work on the road to the Tarsia dam. The inauguration today

Today, June 27th at 4 pm, the President of the Province, Rosaria Succurro, will preside over the inauguration of the new stretch of road on the connection Cosenza-Sibari, better known as the Tarsia Dam road.

This event finally marks the conclusion of the new construction works and partial adaptation of the stretch between A3 junction Tarsia exit and the SS 106 bis, then skirting the right of the Crati and the Tarsia Dam.

The new road significantly improves traffic and road safety in the province of Cosenza. “This infrastructure allows you to quickly connect the municipalities of the Crati valley with those of the Ionian Cosentino” stated Rosaria Succurro. The intervention aims to improve the service level of the SP 197, making travel more efficient and safe.

The project includes two main galleries: the Tarsia Dam Tunnel, located between progressive lines 0+695. 00 km and 0+833. 00 km, and the Serra Castello Gallery, between progressive numbers 4+429. 60 km and 4+640. 40 km. These structures will guarantee greater traffic flow, reducing travel times.

The project received funding from the Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC) 2000-2006 and 2007-2013, with the support of CIPE Resolution 89/21.

The name Cosenza-Sibari can however be misleading, so much so that today it is more correct to speak of Tarsia-Bivio Terranova from Sibari, given that the current project no longer has anything to do with Cosenza or Sibari and that the third lot for Cantinella has not yet started. In fact, the plan, started in 2011, is now probably light years away from the promise made by the then President of the Province Mario Oliverio according to which the new road would have to significantly reduce the distances between Cosenza and the Sibaritide: 22 minutes it was said.
