Today’s edition of “Il Giornale di Sicilia” focuses on the presentation of Dionisi at Palermo.
The arrival of Alessio Dionisi at Palermo marks the start of an exciting era for the club, with a clear objective: promotion to Serie A. After his dismissal from Sassuolo, Dionisi does not see his new role in Palermo as a step backwards, but rather as an opportunity to take “three steps forward”. His previous experience, characterized by a lively football that saw Sassuolo overcome the likes of Inter, Milan, Juventus and Roma, promises to bring energy and new strategies to Palermo.
The coach is already examining the team’s resources to decide on the best game module, rejecting the idea of a three-man defense and aiming to maximize effectiveness based on the quality of the players. A lot of curiosity about the first adventure in a southern square: «These colors are unique and I am happy to represent them: difficulties are part of sport and life, our goal is to improve what has been good so far in construction and programming”.
One of the first knots to be untied concerns the game system: Dionisi has operated in the past with both
attacking midfielder both with the attacking trident but now, he explains, «we will start again from the quality of the players,
based on that I will choose the best module: we must not model ourselves based on moments, but
we will try to be as effective as possible. We certainly won’t play with three at the back, the rest will be seen.” The coach then says that he has already spoken on the phone with all the players on the staff, so as to have a first contact with them: «I told them what I expect when they take the field and I wanted to listen to their motivations to understand where we will start again: I already have an idea about everyone and there is a sharing of intentions with the rest of the club, the valorization concerns every player and not just the young people. The goal is for there to be as much competition as possible to bring out something more from everyone: speaking with Stulac (the two worked together at Empoli in 2020/21, ed.) I stimulated him, because he is aware that he can do more and he must show me that he has a spirit of revenge.”
