Florence, 27 June 2024 – Forza Italia smiles: it emerges from the electoral round satisfied and looks to ’25 with confidence.

Marco Stella, the Tuscan coordinator of the party, is now starting the debate in the coalition and should we speed up the time towards the 2025 Regionals?

“The data emerging from the European elections can only make us proud: in Tuscany Forza Italia increases its votes, overtaking the League and thus becoming the second center-right party. We thank the Tuscan voters who have placed their trust in us. Now, however, we need to put our heads together immediately on the Regionals of 2025, the data shows that Tuscany is contestable”.

She immediately proposed a reflection. Will you do it soon with FdI and Lega?

“I wrote to the secretaries of the parties to ask to meet together with parliamentarians, party leaders and elected officials to do a ‘two day’ of analysis and proposals for the 2025 regional elections, I think it is necessary to do it before the summer. If we want to win we have to work as a team.”

The League has proposed centre-right primaries.

“I don’t rule anything out a priori, the primaries are one of the tools to choose the candidates but certainly not the only one. I had proposed them to choose the candidate for Florence and Prato, I certainly can’t say no to choose the candidate for governor. If we were to have primaries, there will certainly be a representative of Forza Italia, the important thing is to choose the name early to make an electoral campaign on the content”.

You underlined that Tomasi is not the only name facing the Region’s challenge.

“We must not choose a name to make a challenge, we must choose a name that makes us win. We are interested in changing the Region’s policies on healthcare, infrastructure, taxes and to do so we must win. Forza Italia has women and men not only capable of to be a candidate, but above all to win”.

The septello of mayors and the civic network. Value added?

“Our mayors are an added value because every day they demonstrate how well the centre-right administrations work for the communities they administer and in fact they have been reconfirmed by the citizens. Forza Italia was the first civic list in Italy… To win we must broaden, there is no doubt about this, reaching out to all those who are alternative to the left. What is emerging in Tuscany is a far-left alliance open to the 5 stars which would take Tuscany back 30 years in terms of transport, infrastructure and the economy.” .

Schmidt experience in Florence. What is your opinion? Could the parties have done more to support?

“If you put together Funaro, Saccardi, Del Re, Palagi and Masi, i.e. the block that is recognized in the left in the first round, they exceed 65%. We have offered the Florentines a vision of the city different from the one we have today, proposals on degradation and safety, a different possibility on the tramway system, we have fought and will fight to defend the trees in Campo di Marte, but all this was not enough. We supported a capable, competent person who loves Florence like Eike Schmidt and who has demonstrated to the Uffizi to be able to change things. Evidently the Florentines are fine with a decadent, dirty city, hostage to gangs of criminals with the Cascine drug dealing park… unfortunately Florence is blocked by a system of power city, however. The real question is: could the parties have done more or could the Florentines wake up?”.
