In the Province of Trapani, mail delivery is increasingly using zero-impact means

In the province of Trapani, 55 new low and zero emission vehicles are operational which contribute to making up the green fleet of Poste Italiane already present in the area for the delivery of parcels and correspondence. The new supply is made up of four-wheeled vehicles, including cars and vans equipped with latest generation endothermic engines: methane, hybrid and full electric engines. Thanks to the new vehicles, the fleet of over 160 vehicles in the area is now made up of approximately two thirds of ecological vehicles, of which 55 are 100% electric.

In addition to the presence of special zero-emission tricycles and quadricycles already in service on the streets of Trapani, with the availability of these additional vehicles the mail travels completely “green” throughout the delivery process. The new vehicles in the Poste Italiane fleet have been modified and made functional to the needs of the postal service; for example, in some cars, the passenger seat is equipped with a particular arrangement for housing the boxes or particular shelving for the transport of parcels. Still others have ad hoc accessories for Poste Italiane’s mission, such as the Keyless Entry&Start system for remote driver recognition. Thanks to this technology, the doors and tailgate unlock automatically, making the operators’ work easier.

The renewal of the company fleet from a sustainable perspective is part of the new 2024-2028 industrial plan: “The Connecting Platform” which aims to transform logistics and evolve a business model to serve customers, with the aim of looking at a new segment made up of small and medium-sized businesses, contributing to the end-to-end logistics development of a postal network and a network increasingly driven by parcel management. A further step forward for the group led by CEO Matteo Del Fante towards achieving the goal of carbon neutrality 2050.
