PALERMO – Day of presentations at the rosanero. The technician Alexei Dionysis and the sports director Morgan De Sanctis, in the press room of the “Renzo Barbera”, released the first statements from Palermo’s new managers. The former Salernitana sporting director addressed several hot topics, starting with the Rosanero transfer market.
“Pleasure to introduce myself to the Rosanero fans. I deeply feel the responsibility and pride of occupying a delicate role within the sports area. We will do our best to make the fans proud and above all, compared to what CFG is, to maintain a level that has always been there in their history.”
“Bigon’s role? In my role as sporting director in Salernitana I developed four or five negotiations with Palermo in the past management, of which two were closed – explains De Sanctis -. Then one was postponed due to non-football issues and another ended, I’m referring to Mamadou Coulibaly. I only had Leandro Rinaudo as a reference as sporting director. Riccardo Bigon is an important representative of the CFG, but I absolutely do not see any kind of dynamic that could represent what is requested”.
“We have deep respect for what Palermo has done in the last 24 months, both on and off the pitch. The technical base of the first team is good and will certainly be improved. We have clear objectives and positions. It will probably take a little more time because we have high objectives and there is competition with teams that for now can offer a higher category than Palermo. With the right manner and timing, we hope that before the start of the championship all the pieces we can can fit together”.
On the Palermo transfer market
“Mix of youth and experience? We need the right mix because on the one hand it is important to have experience to manage an environmental factor that will influence our choices. Playing in Palermo is not like playing in other places, it is probably the most passionate place in Serie B. On the other hand, we would also like to imagine, as the coach and I are, young people who want to build something important. I would also like young people to arrive who imagine becoming even more important within Palermo. It is the most complicated part of our work, the basis is good and we have already spoken with all the Cella Tosa players to understand who is really motivated for this project”
“Great professionals are coming out of the technical staff, if their wills meet those of Palermo it is likely that they will give a contribution, but not with the first team. I still feel like thanking these people that I have known and appreciated so much”.
“We have objectives everywhere to improve the squad. For midfield and attack. Ideally, our market will have to deliver 6/7 players for each department to allow the coach to make tactical changes. We want to deliver variables in player characteristics. Let’s say that I don’t have a budget that affects me, but it does affect me to deliver flexible players to the coach and I want to play for Palermo.”

On the individual transfer market

De Sanctis’ moves with Palermo
