Lamezia, Nucifero (Social Pact): “Health migration risks accentuating with Differentiated Autonomy”

Lamezia Terme – “Health migration is one of the atavistic problems that characterizes the Calabrian and southern populations and which risks becoming accentuated with the introduction of the law on differentiated autonomy recently hastily approved without constructive discussion and against which the voices of the southern social partners for the undisputed negative repercussions it will have on the most fragile territories which will find themselves desolately abandoned to their fate with little tax revenue available”. The lawyer Fernando Nucifero of Patto Sociale di Lamezia Terme expresses himself in these terms – who adds – “how the migration phenomenon for health reasons represents a deep wound in the Italian Healthcare System with serious repercussions on patients and the budgets of the Regions of the South forced to bear double costs compared to those incurred by the Northern Regions that welcome patients”.

“Southern Italy, Nucifero points out, therefore, in addition to suffering the damage of not being able to adequately treat its citizens, also pays more for the care they receive elsewhere with a waste of resources that further impoverishes the already weak regional budgets. An exodus which – for Nucifero – would be expanded by differentiated autonomy in violation of the fundamental duty of the State enshrined in the Constitution to ensure the right to health for all citizens regardless of their place of residence. Constitution which – highlights the exponent of Pacto Sociale – was born from common needs and very different ideals which were able to synthesize in the interest and for the love of a country to be refounded and reconstructed. Many young people gave their lives to have it, many statesmen knew how to meet to draft it: Christian Democrats, socialists, communists, liberals, social democrats, republicans, etc. and which, therefore, is not a partisan text but is the fundamental charter of the State placed as a guarantee for all to love and defend and which has always served as a source of pride for the Italian people. In reality – concludes Nucifero – a reversal of the trend would be needed by increasing investments in the southern regions in order to allow them to equip their hospital structures with the human and technological resources necessary to offer suitable and efficient services”.
