Udine: the Japanese businessman who intervened to break up a fight dies

“I express my personal condolences, those of the entire council and the regional community for the passing away, after a few days of agony, of Shimpei Tominaga. An unacceptable death for the way it was consumed and for which we ask that justice be done as soon as possible. It is an act that we owe first and foremost to the victim’s family but also to the city of Udine, which does not deserve to be in the spotlight for these acts of reckless violence, which have nothing to do with our territory”. These are the words of the governor of the Region Massimiliano Fedriga commenting on the tragic epilogue of the story which in recent days involved the Japanese entrepreneur residing in the Friulian capital, punched for trying to break up a fight in the city centre.

“All the institutions – added the top exponent of the Regional Council – must not only make their voices heard but also concretely do everything within their competence to prevent and avoid the recurrence of situations such as those which occurred in Udine. Our cities and towns must continue to be safe places, which is why we will continue to confidently provide the support and tools to increase local surveillance.”
