Marsala – Yet another recognition, this time at European level, for the planning expressed by the Municipal Administration of Marsala, capable of intercepting PoFesr and Pnrr funds thanks to the programming of interventions with positive repercussions on the community.
Thus, while last month confirmation came of the selection of the Salinella Park regeneration project financed with 8 million from the Pnrr (presentation at the National Festival of Urban Regeneration, in Rome next December), Marsala now also stands out in the community context with the candidacy for the “Regio Stars 2024”.
The redevelopment project of the “Gaspare Umile” sports center in via Istria, in fact, is one of the three best Sicilian projects that will participate in the competition organized by the European Commission, aimed at enhancing territorial excellence. The objective of “RegioStars 2024” – in addition to recognizing the positive impact of the project at a local level – is to promote and share good practices on a European scale.
Mayor Massimo Grillo: “The planning capacity of this Administration is confirmed, having inherited the Center from the previous one, managing to remodulate and perfect its socio-aggregative purposes in the Via Istria area. Here, the I Fenici Rugby Association continues to operate well, whose sporting initiatives are a valuable example of social inclusion. This new recognition gratifies us and is a further incentive to continue in the wake of the urban regeneration already underway aimed at making our three popular neighborhoods flourish again, protecting the decorum and improving the quality of life of the residents”.
The three projects nominated by the Sicilian Region and the others admitted to the competition will be evaluated by a jury made up of academics. These will select the finalists for EURegionsWeek 2024, scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 October in Brussels.
It must be said that last year the project of the “Gaspare Umile” Center was selected for the #EUinmyRegion 2023 campaign, carried out in September and October in Sicily under the slogan Our places have new colors.
