Montemurlo, ‘Walking with the Innkeeper’ returns

Montemurlo (Prato), 26 June 2024 – “Walking with the Innkeeper” returns, the great and expected summer food and wine event which this year reaches the finish line of the 19th edition and Monday 1st July, from 8pm until 1am, brings good food, music, dancing and open shops to the streets of Oste. A simple and tested formula that has proven its validity over the years, becoming an unmissable evening for thousands of Montemurlese and beyond. On the last Monday of June there is “A spasso con l’Oste” and there are many people of all ages, from children to the elderly, who also come from outside the municipality to enjoy the party. «The historical Corteggio and the A spasso con l’Oste festival represent two of the most important events for the promotion of the territory – the mayor underlines with satisfaction Simone Calamai – An opportunity to bring our city to life and to enhance neighborhood trade and the world of local associations. A simple formula that has proven its validity over the years.” The most awaited evening of the Montemurlo summer is once again promoted this year by the Noi Insieme Committee with the Municipality of Montemurlo and the Pro-loco and involves the traders of Oste and the local associations. Many people signed up, around seventy shops, food and craft stands varied. A party that this year the Noi Insieme Committee wanted to dedicate to a historic volunteer, Fabrizio Bresci, who passed away last November and who, despite his illness, was committed to organizing the event until the end. «It is a great satisfaction to have reached the 19th edition of this festival which is as simple in its conception as it is successful and we are already working to organize the twentieth anniversary of A spasso con l’Oste. – explains Lorenzo Scrozzo, president of the Pro Loco and of the Noi Insieme committee – A celebration that does not require the presence of street food trucks, because here the protagonists are the local restaurateurs and the associations that offer the most varied menus, from game, to pizza, to sandwiches, with fish. The first event of the summer which enhances local trade and which will continue in the coming weeks with “Montemurlo sotto le stelle” and Mulino in festa”» In the street, between a chat and a laugh in company, you will be able to taste culinary specialities, aperitifs, appetizers. Six music stations, located along the route of over a kilometre: via Oste, via Venezia, via Scarpettini and via Treviso. There will be the ASD Corallo which will offer performances of rhythmic gymnastics and hip-hop, the group “Damas y Caballeros” which will liven up the street with dances and animated games, the musical group “Miles Ties” and the very young “High Voltage” ( service by the Il Villaggio association). The showman Gutyerrez and the music and dance with the “Diablo dance evolution” and the “Country Western roots” of Pistoia are unmissable. Furthermore there will be an inflatable space for children, a track for mini-karts and traveling entertainment by the “Sganghenga street band”. Naturally, the large photographic frame of “Facce di A spasso con l’Oste” curated by the photographer Alessandro Fabbri could not be missing to take a souvenir photo of the evening in the company of friends, while the photos of the evening are curated by the photographic group Zoom zoom of Montemurlo. «Walking with the Innkeeper has grown over the years and always attracts many people even from outside the municipality – adds Lorenzo Bonacchi of the Noi Insieme Committee – An eagerly awaited moment that offers the people of Montemurle, who perhaps live far away, to return home and meet in just one evening the friends of a lifetime.” This year too great attention to safety. For “Walking with the Innkeeper” the absolute ban, by order of the mayor, on the use of glass glasses and bottles, cans and other sharp material inside the event. The Noi Insieme committee has set up a security service made up of 11 stewards who will help the police to ensure the smooth running of the event. An accurate safety plan has also been drawn up indicating, in case of emergency, escape routes and assembly points. Maurizio Costanzo
