Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the attacker Simone Simeri He spoke about his experience in Taranto and his future. Here are his words:
About the season in Taranto: ”My period in Taranto was positive beyond the goals scored even if unfortunately they are the ones that make the difference: if you score 15 in a season you have a type of market, if you work dirty making fewer steps like boiled meat shift. In any case, I am happy to have given my contribution to an already strong team. As for the playoffs lost, after more than thirty days everything is metabolised albeit with a certain regret. Afterwards we analyze what has been achieved and I believe that Taranto went beyond expectations: second on the pitch and elimination from the play offs against a team that reached the Serie B final. And precisely with regards to the final I say with extreme sincerity that Carrarese deserved the victory and promotion to Serie B and I expected this success because, knowing the environment, they had been planning this leap in category with consistency and ambition for some time and I’m happy for them. Returning to the season in Taranto I say that as a team we did our best. We finished second on the field but then we were forced to play four games that were beyond our competition and against strong teams. This generated a significant psychological backlash. In football there are merits and demerits: the first were ours because we positioned ourselves behind only Juve Stabia, the second, however, belong to those who, off the pitch, did not do their best. Something happened to me in Imola similar: you save on the pitch and are relegated for extra problems. That’s okay, it’s football”
About his future: ”Mister Capuano didn’t call me and with the passage of time, evidently, I think this call may no longer come. This is football. Love stories, even if beautiful, can also end just as they begin. I had a good time in Taranto but the time has come to focus exclusively on my home team which is Bari. Evidently I’m not a first choice for Taranto but in football you never say never”.
