200 registered, 9 showed up. The seismic risk simulation in Pozzuoli, organized to offer the communities of the Campi Flegrei the tools and information in the event of evacuation, was a flop. After yesterday’s numbers (49 participants), those involved in the test had no great illusions. In fact, only 4 of those who had registered showed up under the Civil Protection stand. They were joined by 5 locals who hadn’t booked but who still showed up on the seafront. Seafront, that of Pozzuoli, writes the Corriere del Mezzogiorno, sold out, given the summer season. The mayor himself, Luigi Manzoni, who understands the citizens’ “concerns”, spoke about the poor participation of the citizens, but the Municipality and the other actors “are working as never before on the phenomenon of bradyseism, and we must provide security by carrying out the activities that we are putting in place”, he says.

“We need to understand the reasons for this low participation”

«Everything that needed to be done – Manzoni underlines – we are doing without wasting time. I don’t feel like condemning anyone who didn’t come, I just want to understand with data in hand and work on the critical issues because here we are looking for a solution to any problem. I also reflect on the fact that we are carrying out exercises and at the same time we are experiencing a state of emergency in Pozzuoli, so this could be one of the causes. Communication to citizens about this simulation has been made – concludes the mayor – now I think we need to actually understand the reasons for this low participation”.
