delegation of the company present at the procession

From orange to all the colors of the rainbow! This year too, and for the second consecutive year, easyJet – leading airline in Europe – confirms the his support for Napoli Pride, the cultural and social event in defense of civil rights and the demands of the LGBTQIA+ community which for seventeen editions has animated the streets and alleys of the Campania capital, the company’s second base in Italy. This renewed commitment highlights the importance easyJet places on promoting a culture of inclusion and diversityreiterating how important it is, today more than ever, to build an open and welcoming work environment towards all people.

Inclusion and diversity have in fact always been in the DNA of easyJet, which today operates in 35 countries across Europe, bringing to every route the awareness that flying represents one of the most powerful means to overcome distances and discover what is different from us. In light of this, easyJet dedicates itself daily to building personal and professional contexts where oevery individual can feel free to express their authenticity and celebrate your uniqueness.

Also in this new edition of Napoli Pride, a delegation of easyJet employees will take part in the procession which will pass through the capital next Saturday 29 June: an opportunity to discuss freedom, civil rights and progress in the protection of the LGBTQIA+ community with citizens.

This is the comment of Valeria Cerri, Regional Cabin Services Manager Italy & Spain: «Pride represents a moment of great importance for LGBTQIA+ communities around the world. It is an occasion in which we meet again, love and civil rights are celebrated, but it is also an occasion in which we become aware of the obstacles still to be overcome. For all these reasons, and because at easyJet we set ourselves the daily goal of nurturing an inclusive culture free from stereotypes, we are happy to confirm our full support for the event. And, even more so, to do it in a strategic territory for us like the Neapolitan onewhere we have built a base that, year after year, continues to grow and strengthen.”

At easyJet, the first step to foster an open environment where the internal community feels represented in all its nuances is already done at the moment of personnel selection. With these values in mind, for example, in April the company announced the opening of its easyJet Generation cadet training programme, which will allow aspiring pilots with little or no experience at all to enter the cabin of piloting an Airbus A320 aircraft in approximately two years, as a qualified co-pilot.

A five-year campaign thanks to which over 1,000 new pilots will join easyJet staff by 2027, with around 200 places already available starting this year, but also a concrete commitment to promote and increase the presence of women in a sector that is still strongly male. Since, in fact, today only around 6% of pilots in the world are women, easyJet continues to be actively committed to addressing this crucial industry challenge, including through various initiatives such as recruitment campaigns, school visit programs and its Summer Flight School .

Thanks to this constant commitment, today there are around 300 women, including 99 commanders, who fly for the company. This is just the beginning of the work that easyJet undertakes on a daily basis to combat gender stereotypes and encourage as many women as possible to apply.
