Calabria weather: towards a hot weekend between sun and sand

The meteorological instability that affected central-northern Italy and caused local inconveniences in Calabria is moving towards the Balkans, bringing an improvement in the weather throughout the region.

Towards the weekend, an African heat wave will bring a significant increase in temperatures in Calabria, although it will be short-lived.

Favorable weather conditions and pleasant temperatures until Friday

The low pressure over the Mediterranean has brought local disturbances to Calabria, with scattered showers and desert sand. The Tyrrhenian areas were the most affected by the disturbance from the southwest. The last inconveniences could occur on Wednesday afternoon, with an increase in cloudiness in the inland areas and possible showers in the areas of Sila Crotonese, Serre and Aspromonte. However, the precipitations will be weak and short-lived.

In the following days, the removal of the depression towards the Balkans will guarantee a general improvement in the weather in Calabria, with sunny days and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will remain stable until Friday, with values around the seasonal average and maximums that will not exceed 30-31°C along the coasts and peaks up to 32°C in internal areas.

A strong increase in temperatures and the arrival of sand is expected from Saturday

The respite from the African heat is coming to an end. A movement of Atlantic air towards the Iberian Peninsula will cause an influx of warm air from North Africa starting from Saturday 29 June, with a notable and temporary increase in temperatures.

Forecasts indicate a temperature rise of more than that 8°C across the region, with temperatures likely to reach i 34-35°C along the coasts, particularly the Ionian ones, and peaks up to 39-40°C in the internal areas of Cosentino and Crotone.

Sand in the atmosphere will make the skies whitish and dull. For further details, we recommend following future updates, as there may be substantial changes.
