Jacopo Basilietti this year he would have turned 18, but a damned accident interrupted his life with just 9 years left to go, on the ring road that leads to Isola. Jacopo was passionate about basketball, a passion he passed on to his brother and so the Memorial was born in memory of him.”Hi Jacob” which was held in recent days at the Enofila gym in Asti, organized with the collaboration of Asti’s new basketball club, AMS – Asti Mens Sana.
With a note, father Fabio and mother Fedela want to thank all the people who participated in this exciting moment.
The teams participated in the event U17 of Reale Mutua Basket Torino, LO.VI. Basketball Borgaro, ASD Polisportiva Jolly Vinovo, Asti Mens Sana and friends of the SportAbili team from Alba.
“To them – writes the Basilietti family – a special thank you goes out, their presence and sporting spirit made this day even more significant. Their enthusiasm and energy were an inspiration to us all. We sincerely thank Riccardo, Elena and Donato of the AMS for making themselves available to organize this event, committing themselves to the organization and management of the day, with their usual attention to the children and families and a thanks to the teams who participated, coaches, athletes and companions. A special thanks to Mario Vespa and his wife Elena who rewarded the boys by sharing this moment with us.”
Elena and Mario Vespa who know well the atrocious pain of losing a child (a tragic accident took two away from them), have founded an association “Enrico and Ilaria sono con noi non-profit organisation”, to help their children continue to live through solidarity actions and their presence alongside the Basilietti family was of great support.
“We conclude with our thoughts on how important what sport, in particular basketball, can teach. Sport for us is joy, friendship, magic, healthy competition and above all it is an opportunity to learn and put values into practice such as respect, fairness and teamwork that serve to make everyone, especially our kids, better people as they are trying to do Riccardo, Elena and Donato in Mens Sana. If you like basketball, even just out of curiosity, try to get closer to the AMS world but, be careful, it will be difficult to get away from it. Thanks again to everyone Hi Jacob.
