From today, Wednesday, season tickets for the 2024-25 season are open: Coccia’s «Contaminazioni» is rich of leading names and with a great choice of prose, variety shows, comedy theatre, jazz aperitifs and New Year’s Eve galas. Yesterday the previews with the artistic director Corinne Baroni, Fabio Ravanelli president of the board of directors of the theater foundation in via Rosselli, Matteo Negrin director of the «Piemonte dal Vivo» circuit and Luca Piantanida councilor for Culture who stated: «I have had the delegation for a year and here I saw a great job. We are and will be even closer to what is growing in this theatre. It qualifies him at a national level.” Baroni on the title of the billboard: «Contaminations why titles, artists, contexts intertwine between stage, cinema, literature and social media. They are chosen thanks also to the precious suggestions of the staff. There are proposals for audiences from six years old to seniors.” Negrin: «The Coccia is an excellence, like other theaters outside Turin, and for prose it confirms itself as a reference point with certainties and innovations». Twenty-two titles, 33 curtain raisers. The opera returns in January as per tradition. Meanwhile, next week there is a trip to Sordevolo for «Aida».
The President for Prose
Coup de theater yesterday in the foyer. Baroni passes the microphone for details on the prose to Ravanelli who does very well: «Six titles and all with many reasons to appeal. Let’s start with Simon’s “The Strange Couple” on 7 and 8 December with Gianluca Guidi and Giampiero Ingrassia. In February here is “Don Giovanni” with Arturo Cirillo on stage and the director is ready for a mix between Molière, De Ponte and Mozart, then “Perfect Strangers” by Paolo Genovese with Paolo Calabresi, in March “The King Dies” by Ionesco with Edoardo Siravo and directed by Maurizio Scaparro. With “Othello, of precise words” Lella Costa returns directed by Gabriele Vacis. We will close in May with “Doctor Kaufmann” by Giovanni Grasso, on a dramatic, current theme, against anti-Semitism and racial hatred. «Aladin» signed Pooh
The «Variety» program begins on 16 and 17 November with «Exercises of Freedom» by and with Rocco Papaleo and Arturo Valiante on the piano and in December there is «A Christmas Carol. The musical” by Menken and Ahrens with, among others, Roberto Ciufoli. February brings «La Buona Novella» by De André «and it is a show – underlines Baroni – complete, not a tribute, with Neri Marcorè and Rosanna Naddeo directed by Giorgio Gallione». Coccia’s production is «The Goblin dream»: by and with Claudio Simonetti, direction and orchestration by Vito Lo Re in March. Finally «Aladin. The musical”, by the unforgettable Stefano D’Orazio, music by Pooh and Max Laudadio “the Genius”. Barons: «The choice for comedians was not easy. Web, social media and TV intertwine with good measure here.” And so here is «Vita Bassa» with Giorgia Fumo in November, Giuseppe Gacobazzi in February in «Il pedestrian. Lights, shadows and colors of an ordinary life”, in March Federico Basso in “Profilo Basso” and in April Chiara Francini in “Forte e chiara”.
Jazz aperitifs and New Year’s Eve gala
Six “Aperitifs in jazz” with choices by Corrado Beldì and Riccardo Cigolotti, from November to March, always on Sunday mornings. The start with «Les Bohémiens» by Puccini Jazz 5tet and with «The Bridge» the journey from Evans and Monk. By Fluct Trio it will be the homage to Waits and Ox Electric 4tet will propose «Playing Bernstein. From West Side Story”. Rosalba Picinni 6tet tries her hand at «Mina, my great myth» and closes Na Bossa Trio with «Pra Vinicius de Moraes». New Year’s Eve will be with «Celebrities»: music by Marco Caselle and Gianluca Savia, dances by Compagnia Bit, direction and choreography by Melina Pellicano.
