Postman transferred, Cobas in the square: “We will turn to the prefect”

Unable for temporary medical reasons to carry the mail, instead of being included in the internal staff of Viterbo she was transferred more than 100 km away. The Cobas union of Viterbo reported the fact, through the mouth of Poste RSU Andrea Morucci and the head of the confederation Luca Paolocci, who talk about punitive measure by the company and who on Saturday starting from 10am will be in the square in front of the post office in via Ascenzi to denounce the violation of the right to illness. The Cobas will also ask for the intervention of the prefect.

“A historic worker, who has always been employed as a postman in the city of Viterbo, falls ill and is unable to sustain long and continuous journeys by car – say Morucci and Paolocci -. The competent doctor, i.e. the one chosen by the Italian Post Office, visits her and ascertains the pathology, advising in the report against long journeys by public and private transport. One would have expected that the Italian Post Office would include her among the internal staff here in Viterbo, where there is a constant understaffing, thus allowing the worker to carry out the necessary treatment and recover. The company instead, like one of her worst masters, places her in the internal works of Fiumicino, effectively punishing her for her state of illness.”

The veracity of the state of illness, the Cobas underline, is also certified by the commission of the ASL’s workplace prevention and safety service, “but not even this moves Poste which, on the contrary, threatens the worker not to show up in Viterbo again or she will be charged with the ‘unjustified absence from Fiumicino’.
