For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any kind of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not enough. For this reason we ask those who read us daily, and follow us, to give us, if they believe, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of Modena and Emilia-Romagna people who read us daily, is fundamental.

Given the flood conditions of the Secchia river, the “Red color code” alert was also triggered in the municipality of Carpi.
The citizens of Cortile, San Martino Secchia and all residents near the river banks are invited to move to the upper floors of their homes and pay maximum attention.

‘The situation is constantly monitored by the Municipal Operations Centre, constantly available at the number 334/6080829, which you can contact for any information, emergencies or to communicate particular needs. Furthermore, constant monitoring of the embankment sections is active, and timely verification of the situations of citizens in fragile conditions, with the related interventions where necessary; in collaboration with the competent veterinary service, the situations of animal farms closest to the banks were also examined.

Again with reference to these hamlets, furthermore, as a precaution, the “Acquarello” Nursery School in Cortile and the Summer Center in Cortile will be closed on Wednesday 26/06; similarly, the closure of the fractional cemeteries of San Martino Secchia and Cortile was ordered.

In any case, the population is recommended:
– To limit travel by car to what is strictly necessary and to stay away from watercourses, bridges and underground roads;
– Do not use underground and basement floors and prepare to go to the upper floors if necessary;
– To group the most important personal effects that could be needed in the event of a possible evacuation (house keys, money, identity documents, medicines, raincoats and spare clothing, bottle of water and torch, etc.);
– In case of abandonment of the building, turn off the gas, electricity and water utilities;
– To pay maximum attention and to follow all instructions that will be issued on behalf of the Mayor and the public authorities.
For information on traffic conditions, contact the Local Police on: 059 649555, which will also remain active during the night.
