Nuovo Pignone Florence, the historical RSU archive goes online – CGIL Florence

The FIOM of Florence, Prato and Pistoia has obtained funding from the Ministry of Culture, General Archives Directorate, through the public tender for interventions on the archives of political movements and workers’ representative bodies (Law 205/2017), for a action aimed at description and online publication on the portal storialavorotoscana.it of the inventory of the archive of the company union representatives of the Nuovo Pignone Baker Hughes company of Florence, preserved in the FIOM company section with materials starting from 1964 and reaching up to today and relating to the internal commission, the works council and the Unitary trade union representatives (RSU).
The intervention is entrusted to Dr. Mariamargherita Scotti, a long-experienced archivist. Scientific and instrumental assistance will be provided by the Valore Lavoro Foundation with its Director Stefano Bartolini, who will also set up a dedicated scientific committee. For Bartolini it is «an important occasion, which strengthens the collection of Tuscan work archives on the Valore Lavoro Foundation portal and opens the doors to developments both in terms of historical research and Public History activities to be carried out directly with those who today works at Nuova Pignone.” For the General Secretary of FIOM Toscana and FIOM national coordinator of the Nuovo Pignone Baker Hughes group Daniele Calosi it is «a great recognition of the workers’ commitment to safeguarding their historical memory and of the seriousness with which the archive was safeguarded and a project built cultural for the valorization of the working history of Pignone”.
