Bus hits building in Lucca due to driver illness, no one injured

LUCCA, JUNE 25 – A public transport bus crashed into a building in Lucca, demolishing part of the ground floor, where there is a kebab, and the upper floor, where there was a family of four in an apartment . No one was injured, nor were there any casualties. The bus driver, who apparently felt ill, was taken to the San Luca city hospital but his life is not in danger. The most probable cause of the crash would be that the driver was unwell. The bus had no passengers on board at the time and ended up hitting the house after crossing the opposite lane on which there were no cars at the time. Furthermore, there was no one on the pavement, tons of bricks and rubble fell on it. The usually quite popular kebab shop was empty at that moment: only the owner at the counter, but the bus partially demolished the part used for the kitchen. Upstairs there were four of the man’s family members who were also unharmed. The accident occurred in the Sant’Anna sulla Sarzanese district. Two apartments evacuated. Firefighters, 118, municipal police are on site. The road was closed. A crane was used to clear the roadway of debris. (HANDLE).
