Florence, 25 June 2024 – In a Tour de France already very hard, even during the presentation of the teams the champions will have to pedal, also facing a climb. Well yes, on the day of the celebration, the one in which the champions will greet the city of Florence and be presented, they will have to struggle a bit.
Of course, for them to climb up to Piazzale Michelangelo it’s a no brainer. But certainly the presentation of the Tour in Florence will be unconventional. Usually riders only travel a few meters on their bikes. This time over a kilometre, to reach the square where the stage is set up.
Here there will be a real show complete with presenters. Show that goes live all over the world and will be held from 6pm to 8pm. For the first time, therefore, as part of the start of the Tour de France, Florence will show images postcard-like. With weather that fortunately should be rewarding, after the rain that fell at the beginning of the week. Sun and heat should reign supreme.
Palazzo Vecchio
The presentation starts from Palazzo Vecchio, an important logistical base for this already very important day for the city and the Grand Boucle. The teams, one by one, at regular intervals, to allow each one to be present on the stage, start from the courtyard of Palazzo Vecchio and cycle around the building along via dei Leoni. They then arrive on Lungarno Diaz and then cross Ponte alle Grazie. From here towards Lungarno Serristori, Piazza Poggi, then Viale Poggi. At that point they will arrive near the stage, which they will always climb onto by bicycle. For each team the captain will give a short speech.

Fans and shuttle buses
The real show is obviously the fans. To facilitate access to Piazzale Michelangelo it will be available from 4pm to 9pm the “Navetta Bartali” service organized by Autolinee Toscane, free for everyone with departure and arrival frequency every 10 minutes. The terminus of the service will be located in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Viale Michelangelo.
Parking and transit bans
To allow the relocation of teams were set up parking bans (from 8pm on June 26th to 9pm on June 27th) e of transit (from 2pm to 5pm on June 27th) along the route.
The teams
The Visma Lease a Bike of Vingegaard and Van Aert, the Ineos Grenadiers of Geraint Thomas, the Uae Team Emirates of Pogacar, the Ef Pro Cycling of the enfant du pais Bettiol, who recently became Italian champion: there is only the embarrassment of choice of champions among the World Tour teams participating in the yellow race. Everyone will parade through the streets of Florence.
