TREVISO It all started on 3 September 2011 in Venice when rowers from five countries, Italy, Germany, France, Great Britain, Austria, founded the International Committee of Venetian Rowing (Civv) with the aim of spreading it internationally as an activity sporty. And from today to Saturday, Treviso will be the European capital of Venetian rowing, hosting theAnnual Meeting Civv 2024 thanks to Sile rowers which organizes the annual meeting which is held in Treviso for the first time. And the waters of the Sile will be the protagonists of the races. A sporting event, and of tourist value, with the presence of over a hundred rowers from six countries: France with Nantes and Paris, Germany with Frankfurt and Berlin, Austria, the Netherlands (Amsterdam), Great Britain with Oxfort, which hosted the event last year and where rowing is great, as well as from Italy with numerous Venetian rowing teams. Event presented at Cà Sugana by the vice mayor and councilor for sport Alessandro Manera, the president of the historic Canottieri Sile club Massimo Donadon together with Nicola Magalli and Francesco Piccin of Banca Prealpi SanBiagio who supports the initiative together with the Prosecco Doc Consortium. “An honor that the event will take place in Treviso, underlined the vice mayor, thanks to Canottieri Sile which allows us to raise awareness of the Sile river and, from within, the city and its territory. An event of high sporting value, as well as tourism, and the municipality is at the forefront in promoting it as there is the desire to subsequently bring together all the rowing clubs in the city”.

For Massimo Donadon, president of the company with its 116 years of history, “This event will be a success, it is a source of pride to host the Meeting for the first time and for this reason we have prepared an intense program on the waters of the Sile, from our headquarters in north of the city up to Canizzano”. On the other hand, in the south, with the locks it would be impossible. Then Donadon wanted to thank the rowing clubs of Meolo, Jesolo, Treporti and the Venetian ones of Cannaregio and the University of Venice who lent boats, forcole and oars for the regatta in the lagoon. In fact, the program of the event, after tonight’s meeting with all the athletes at the Via Venzone headquarters, sees the transfer to Treporti tomorrow for a full day of 5-hour rowing in the Lio Piccolo lagoon. Then the two days in the city. On Friday the rowers will be divided into two groups to cover 12 kilometers for over two hours of rowing from the Canottieri headquarters to the Mulini di Canizzano and back: the first group will leave at 10am, the second at 3pm. On Saturday from 11am the three international regattas of Rowing Venetian style, on a thousand meters time trial, in three types of crew on mas caretta: for two men, for two women, therefore mixed his and hers. “They will be highly experienced rowers, with many rows behind them in their sporting life” claims Donadon obviously with the hope that Treviso will go up on the sporting podium, in addition to that of the organisation. An event which relaunches the rowing activity of the club which with the Its 330 members allow you to practice rowing, canoe-kayak, stand up paddle (Sup) and obviously Venetian rowing both at a competitive and amateur level, hosting, among other things, summer centers every year which allow young people not only to get to know the Sile but also protect it.
