Pia Grande swimming center lagoon: contract revoked, construction delays

The swimming center lagoon Pia Grande of Monza ends up in the quagmire of the revocation of the contract. On the sidelines of the press conference to present the works on four school gyms in Monza, the sports councilor, Viviana Guidettiexplained that the administration was forced to assign the intervention for the construction of the external lagoon of almost 250 square meters with water games to the second place.

The construction site, costing over 400 thousand euros, was expected to be completed by the end of this summer. However, the off-schedule will inevitably result in some delays on the roadmap. “There is still a lot of work to be done,” the councilor said. “Unfortunately, this spring we were unable to have 15 consecutive days of good weather, and this led to an unexpected wait. Furthermore, excavations were carried out and the disposal of the earth is proving to be more expensive than we had anticipated.” The delays in the Laguna construction site, which began in the summer of 2023, had been repeatedly denounced by Italia Viva.

The swimming center named after the former councilor Pia Grande has a 25 meter pool and a 33 meter pool, as well as a smaller “educational” pool. Regarding the Lagoon construction site, a Variation is also planned which however does not foresee an increase in costs, except to a minimal extent. “These delays – commented the mayor, Paolo Pilotto – are physiological for those carrying out checks”.
