A historic result obtained by the progressive camp, which however also owes its victory to the alliance signed with the candidate of the Cantiere civico di Pino Ruta who commented on the outcome of the ballot as follows: «For us it is still an exceptional result – he comments the lawyer – because he corners the right-wing wave that is raging almost everywhere in Italy. Even in a Molise that comes out of the regional elections with 65% in favor of the centre-right.
But also because it is a regional capital, it was therefore a match that was deeply felt by both the progressive camp and the centre-right. From this point of view, the result, in my opinion, is historic. And within this result, our role probably also had a heavy impact, because that civic component creates that added value without which, probably, the traditional alignments tend more to follow the wave of the moment, that is, the one that would have theoretically rewarded the right. Conversely, with a Cantiere civico which obtained 20% of the votes in the first round and which, coincidentally, finds itself perfectly in the ballot cumulated with those of the traditional centre-left parties, a new political structure has also been created, certainly innovative from the point of view of of the programmatic points that we have put at the center and also of the men who are capable of implementing them, partly with an integration and discontinuity of previous managements”.
On the composition of the renewed City Council and the famous “lame duck” hypothesis, Ruta explains: «I believe that at the administrative level the political dynamics are much more attenuated as they weigh less on the management of services. Probably if the level is raised, at regional or parliamentary level, it is obvious that political and field choices are predominant. But at the level of local administrations and therefore of concrete objectives to be achieved on the management of public services and on how to make them as efficient and economical as possible, what will be debated and the majorities will be formed in the Council will be on individual choices: what to do with master plan, the districts, the historic center, waste, schools, the Roxy hotel etc. These are therefore managements which, in my opinion, are very stripped of the political situation that can distinguish those directions of much more traditional parties. From this point of view, therefore – concludes Ruta -, I believe that the majority will be formed in the Council”.
