The merger between Configliachi and Altavita Ira is underway

In yesterday’s meeting, 24 June 2024, of the Configliachi Board of Directors, the resolution was unanimously approved which starts the merger process by incorporation of IPAB Altavita Ira and the “Luigi Configliachi” Institute for the visually impaired . Among the documentation accompanying the resolution is the draft of the new statute of the two incorporated bodies, which incorporates the high aims and objectives of these two ancient Paduan institutions, revised in terms of modern efficiency and dynamism of services to the world of the elderly, of the visually impaired and in general of the vulnerable segments of the population.

The new structure, if the process is completed, is a candidate to be one of the largest IPAB (Institute of Public Assistance and Charity) at regional level, equipped to play a leading role in the sector. The Institute will manage 1,000 affiliated beds (in addition to support and aggregate activities), with approximately 800 employees. President Fabio Amato underlines: «The unanimity of consensus in the decision, which was able to gather the fruit of an important work by everyone, by the councilors themselves and by the bodies to which they refer: Union of Italy for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Municipality of Padua, Province of Padua, Union of Provinces and MIM. This demonstrates the strength
cohesion that has characterized the work of this Board of Directors. The resolution is the result of a multi-handed effort and goes in the right direction of sharing commitment and rationalizing resources, through the creation not only of synergies between IPAB, but of a real significant and competitive “critical mass” on the
territory”.

«Today a decisive step has also been taken to continue to guarantee a public service to the world of frail elderly people or those who have family problems – concludes Amato – it should not be overlooked that one of the purposes of the merger is to find a definitive solution to the difficulties of managing the historic structure of the Breda Institute in Ponte di Brenta, whose rehabilitation appears to be urgent and for which Configliachi and Altavita Ira have already been talking for some time
with the Region and Municipality of Padua”.
