“Identify a new strategic approach to prevent accidents at work that can be translated into concrete actions on a regulatory, organizational, disciplinary and cultural level”. This is foreseen by a motion, whose first signatory is the president of the Marche Regional Council Dino Latini, signed by all the groups, and which was approved unanimously by the Legislative Assembly.
The act arises from the recent and tragic news event that occurred in the Latina countryside which led to the death of a 31 year old Indian laborer following the unanimous motion of the Regional Council.
The accident, we read in the premises of the motion, constitutes yet another episode in a bloody series of deaths and injuries that occur on an almost daily basis to the detriment of workers across the entire national territory.
Considering that the Marche institutions can also play their part in containing this sad phenomenon, the Regional Council approved the motion unanimously. The provision commits the Regional Council to promoting the strengthening of the staff and professionalism of the bodies responsible for controls regarding compliance with safety measures and prevention of accidents at work. We also ask for a commitment to promote, in collaboration with Inail, the prevention departments at the Ast (local health authorities), Labor Inspectorate, regional school office, professional associations, universities, trade union organizations and voluntary associations, information and raising awareness in companies and institutes in the Marche, university projects, conferences and studies to improve the health and safety conditions of workers and direct prevention policies in the area.
Another request to the council, foreseen in the motion, is to introduce provisions of a reward nature in favor of companies that ensure further and stronger protections for the prevention of accidents at work and to strengthen sanctioning measures for companies that are responsible for violations in terms of safety. The mechanism concludes with the commitment to implement actions and measures to combat irregular work and the exploitation of workers, identify concrete measures to combat the phenomena of exploitation and schedule the examination of legislative proposals and measures relating to safety and legality in the world of work.
