During the presentation of the “Artist in History Award” 2024, Giovanni Teresi, writer, poet and artist from Marsala, was awarded the Certificate of Artistic Merit for his sculptural work “Still life” with the relative critical judgment of the Master Josè Van Roy Dalì, son of the famous painter Salvador Dalì

The Ceremony, organized by the Effetto Arte Foundation, held at the Teatro Italia in Rome on 21 June 2024, was attended by the President of the Foundation Sandro Serradifalco, some members of the scientific committee and Maestro Josè Van Roy Dalì.

The exhibition of the selected works had an important impact in the field of art due to the beauty achieved and the great expressive sensitivity of the national and international artists, enriched by the critical judgment expressed for each author by the son of the famous Maestro.

This is the critical motivation of Teresi’s work: “The composition of “Still Life” is carefully studied, with a balanced and harmonious arrangement of the elements that make up the subject. Fruits and leaves are carved in relief on a wooden base, creating an effect of depth and volume. The work features a basket full of various fruits, including grapes, bananas, pineapples and other tropical fruits, arranged to guide the viewer’s gaze through the composition. “Still Life” can be interpreted as a tribute to the tradition of still life, a genre that has fascinated artists for centuries, but with a contemporary and three-dimensional twist. Teresi transforms a traditional subject into a sculptural work, adding a new dimension to the viewer’s visual and tactile perception. This reinterpretation suggests a reflection on the permanence and transience of natural beauty, classic still life themes, but through a modern lens.” Jose Van Roy Dali
