Principal Ticozzi retires, the teachers give him an honorary diploma

He himself had announced his retirement at the beginning of May and yesterday, 24 June, teachers, students and institutions publicly celebrated it in the Bpn auditorium. Franco Ticozzi, head teacher of Omar, 67 years old and 40 dedicated to the school, will officially retire from his role from 1 September. But not from the job for which he is already planning a new business in the Academy sector.

Without mincing words, as in his style, Ticozzi retraced the most difficult years of the Novara technical institute: «When I arrived in 2009, Omar was in free fall: the number of students was at its lowest and there was a risk of closing. I tried to create a bridge between the school and the local entrepreneurs and I must say that the first ones I spoke to treated me very badly, they told me “what do you want from us since your school is the last?”. So we changed paths and things went better: in 2016 an entire class of graduates immediately found work and growth began from there, also thanks to the then prefect Amelio who called me and said “You have to save the Omar ” and it opened my eyes. In fifteen years the institute has gone from 600 students to 1600 in 78 classes.”

Surprisingly, the teachers gave him the diploma of chief industrial expert: Ticozzi, in fact, after the first four years at Omar as a student, had moved to Fauser to graduate as an aeronautical expert and then continue his engineering studies.

«The school must also think about those who are left behind – continued Ticozzi -. Those who are good always make do; those who are in difficulty will never arrive if they are not helped by the school. At Omar we have removed many potential problem children from the streets who would have done damage.”

Diploma of expert in electronics and electrical engineering also for the mayor Alessandro Canelli who spoke during the ceremony: «Thank you from the Novara community – he said, addressing the principal directly -. You acted as an intermediary between the world of school and the needs of companies. If you are loved it is because you have done an extraordinary job that you will continue to do: we will not get rid of you precisely because you work with passion and generosity.”

Words also from the co-general manager of Banco Bpm, Nico De Angelis: «Continue working for us and for the territory».

Ticozzi then received recognition from the Omar Peer Educators, the Omaristi Association and the Donegani Club. In the telephone connection was the general of the Air Force, Giulio Mainini, president of the ’53 Club.

In this regard, Ticozzi recalled the collaboration with Cameri Airport for the construction of some parts of the historic Gabardini aircraft from Cameri. Finally, the manager revealed that for the Hockey World Cup in September the Omar students are creating an exclusive skate.
