Bologna, 25 June 2024 – The arrival of the Tour de France in Bologna: on Sunday 30th the champions will travel the length and breadth of the city twice, to the delight of the athletes but causing quite a few traffic problems.

The route and times of the Tour de France passing through Bologna

To contain the problems, the Municipality has decided to close the roads affected by path half an hour later than expected: traffic will be blocked therefore no longer from 12.30 pm from 1pm. The roads will be then reopened after the passage of the race and of official vehicles, that is, at approximately 4.30 pm as regards the entry route (below the complete list) into the city and at 6.30 pm for those of the double city circuit (full list below).

Via del Pallone and the stretch of via Irnerio that goes from via del Pallone to via Indipendenza remain closed from 8pm on Saturday 29th until 10pm on Sunday 30th.

The Municipality then decided to leave the external avenues opensouth’ (between Porta San Mamolo and Porta Santo Stefano), until 3pm. In this way all residents south of this stretch will be able to get off, until that time, for example from via San Mamolo or Castiglione to exit via Murri .

It’s easy to imagine the traffic jams, even on a Sunday at the end of June when the weather finally seems to leave a glimmer of sunshine. For this reason, all the Sirio cameras (which monitor access to the center) and Rita (on the preferential routes) will be turned off between 7am and 7pm on Sunday 30th.

Finally, for Sunday 30 June the direct sales markets of agricultural products in Piazza Carducci and Piazza Aldrovandi will be suspended.

Please also remember that on all the streets involved in the route (both those entering the city and on the double circuit) there is a ban on parking with forced removal to guarantee the safety of cyclists and people who will watch the race on the roadside, a starting from 6pm on Saturday 29 June until the end of the event, therefore approximately until 6.30pm on Sunday 30 June.

Finally, we would like to remind you that along all the streets crossed by the race, for reasons of public safety, the waste disposal bins will be removed or moved starting from Saturday 29 June. The bins will be placed, where possible, in the streets adjacent to the route. Given the reduced availability of bins, it is recommended to dispose of waste by Friday 28 June or Monday 1 July.

The streets of the entrance route into the city are: via Alberto Mario, Orsola Mezzini roundabout, via Alberto Mario, via della Battaglia, via Card. Gil Alvarez Carrillo de Albornoz, via Benedetto Marcello, via Torino, roundabout Italian Caduti in Missione di Pace, via Po, via Emilia Levante, via Giuseppe Mazzini, piazza di Porta Maggiore.

The double city circuit instead includes: the avenues from Porta Maggiore to Porta San Donato, the streets Irnerio, Mille, Marconi, Piazza Malpighi, Sant’Isaia, Andrea Costa, Irma Bandiera, San Luca, Montalbano, Casaglia, Saragozza fuori porta and again the avenues from Porta Saragozza to Porta San Donato.
