The deadline for the tender is scheduled for September 10th. The University of Basilicata, with the patronage of the municipality of Cersosimo and the collaboration of the trade unions, CGIL, CISL and UIL, has launched the call for participation in the competition for the “Angela Ferrara” degree/doctorate award – 2nd edition – year 2024. A second edition which provides separate prizes for bachelor’s and master’s degree holders and holders of a PhD. In particular, the degree award aims to valorise degree and PhD theses that highlight the value of women’s contribution in the economic, social, political, scientific, artistic, philosophical and literary fields, rewarding the best among these. Killed by gunshots by her husband in Cersosimo who shortly after took her own life, Angela Ferrara, only 31 years old at the time, was a poet and author of children’s books, a Lucanian victim of feminicide. 2024 marks six years since the death (15 September 2018) of a young woman dedicated to family, social and cultural commitment not only in the entire Sinni valley. Cut short in the prime of its youth, the University of Basilicata wanted to make even stronger the awareness of how only through knowledge and sharing can growth paths be promoted in the territories, trying to better understand the value and essentiality of women within of Apes and Lucanian communities. Educating the young generation to an equal culture that combats stereotypes, valorises differences and does not make them an object of abuse is the objective of the promoters and collaborators of the initiative, starting from the last verse of one of his many poems: “He loves me or doesn’t he love me?” the doubts of love. Naked daisy in the sunny meadow you are prey to obsession. But if you really love me, don’t pick me up.” Graduates of bachelor’s, single-cycle master’s and master’s degrees from any Italian AFAM university/institution who have obtained the qualification with a grade of no less than 100/110 in the academic years can participate in the competition. 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023. Applications must be sent by 10 September 2024, using one of the following methods: sent, in a sealed envelope, by registered mail or via authorized delivery agencies; by PEC to the address [email protected].. We should remember Angela Ferrara’s last book written for primary schools: The Animal Alphabet”. A book of nursery rhymes to learn the letters of the Italian alphabet. Each reading paired with an animal. Perhaps to say that we need to start from the little ones together with the animals that seem better than men.
