The Democratic Party councilor poses three doubts in a question registered yesterday at Palazzo San Domenico. “Work has begun to create car parks and it seems that they have been suspended and/or blocked – writes Spadaro – have the works been authorized by the relevant bodies? are they included in the redevelopment project of the Churchyard of the Madonna delle Grazie or are they included in the variant appraisal? Have they been suspended and/or blocked and if so for what reasons.” An inspection document of a few lines to which the Monisteri council is called to respond in writing in the chamber.
Work in via Mercè to create rest areas after the works in the square of the Madonna delle Grazie Sanctuary. The road system has been revised.
“The work was possible thanks to the availability of the owner of the land on the rocky ridge that overlooks via Mercè immediately after the Mercedari palace – explains the commander of the Modica Local Police force, Rosario Cannizzaro – after the renovation of the open space in front of the Sanctuary it became necessary to identify new parking stalls nearby. In fact, the owner’s willingness to sell part of the land made it possible to widen the roadway in via Mercè and to create at least twenty parking spaces that are not far from the place of worship. The works are completed. Two-way traffic has been applied to this stretch of road in order to alleviate traffic in front of the Madonna delle Grazie Sanctuary and in via Mercè itself which connects with the car park on via Medaglie d’oro”.
