This morning the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Bari executed a preventative confiscation decree, issued by the Prevention Measures Section of the Court of Bari, chaired by Dr. Giulia Romanazzi, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bari – District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against Giuseppe Di Cosimo, cl. 55, multiple offenders for association aimed at the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances, already under special police surveillance, believed to be the head of the clan of the same name operating in the Bari – Madonnella district.
The value of the assets taken from the availability of the interested party and his family is estimated at 300 thousand euros and is represented by a luxurious villa located in the Torre a Mare district of Bari. Today’s provision issued by the Court – Prevention Measures Section of Bari, accepts the proposal of the DDA of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bari, formulated on the basis of the asset assessments carried out by the specialized Section of the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Bari (without prejudice to the evaluation in the subsequent phases with the contribution of the defence) which reconstructed both the proposed criminal career and the income of the entire family unit, providing a substantial circumstantial framework regarding the illicit origin of his wealth, accumulated over the last 20 years and which would constitute the summary of drug trafficking.
Today’s important result – the result of the shared activity of the judiciary and the investigative components specialized in the specific sector of property investigations – represents a further confirmation of the action to combat organized crime implemented not only through assiduous prevention and repression, but also through careful and scrupulous investigations of a financial and patrimonial nature, precious tools through which the new, and more subtle, forms of manifestation of the mafias must be fought.
