Large anti-drug operation of the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Messina between Sicily, Calabria and other locations in the national territory and abroad.
The investigating judge of Messina, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, issued precautionary measures against 112 people (85 in prison and 27 under house arrest, of which 3 by the Sicilian Regional Investigation Unit of the Penitentiary Police), believed to be involved, in various capacities, in the crimes of association aimed at the possession, trafficking, cultivation and sale of narcotics, self-laundering, fraudulent transfer of valuables, illegal possession and alteration of weapons, extortion and other crimes.
Assets worth more than that were seized 4 million euros.
The measures arise from three separate investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Companies Southern Messina and of Barcellona Pozzo di Gottoall under the coordination of the Messina DDA, which simultaneously dismantled several criminal organizations active in drug trafficking, in the city of Messinain the Barcelona area and in the Nebroidean and Tyrrhenian areas of the province with links to Calabrian criminal structures and subjects also active in Campania, Lombardy and abroad.
The details of the operation will be provided in a press conference to be held by the Messina prosecutor at 10.30 am at the Palace of Justice.
