The “Donna Libera” project was presented at a press conference in the Council Room, which raised funds for the Goap Anti-Violence Center in Trieste.
The councilor for Culture and Tourism Policies Giorgio Rossi spoke for the Municipality of Trieste. Also present were the artist Arturo D’Ascanio; the art critic Franco Rosso; the model of the artwork Laura Settanni; the moderator of the event Cecilia La Paglia; the poet Marianna Pavanello; the actress Elisabetta Cancelli; the contacts of the Goap Anti-Violence Center.
During the press conference it emerged that the “Donna Libera” project is an initiative of the artist Arturo D’Ascanio, who created, exhibited and auctioned a work for charitable purposes. Enlivened by the interventions of various artists, the unconventional auction took place inside the historic Florit store. During the event, Mr. Vincenzo, a private citizen, purchased the work of art for over 800 euros. Thanks to his generosity, this amount was donated to the Goap Anti-Violence Center.
Councilor Giorgio Rossi declared: “The Municipality supports the positive initiatives that come from the territory. The ‘Donna Libera’ project focuses on the central problem of violence against women. Women are a point of reference for society, through centuries as well as in modernity, but despite this they also bring a difference in treatment, often negative on the part of men. Alongside the civil rights acquired thanks to the sacrifices of many people in history, today there are also episodes of feminicide, a testify that there is still a long way to go. This project is a positive contribution. I therefore thank you on behalf of the ‘The municipal administration, the artist and all those who made the success of the project possible as well as the Goap workers for their constant work.”
