Siena has put another piece in its new mosaic: Bernardo Masini (in the photo) will wear the Robur shirt again next season. The news wasn’t exactly a bolt from the blue: that the midfielder was included in the list of the Bianconeri who would continue their journey in the shadow of the Torre del Mangia was practically certain, all that was missing was the official announcement. That also arrived yesterday: “The Siena Fc club is pleased to announce that it has confirmed Bernardo Masini for the 2024/2025 season – we read in the club’s press release –, after standing out last championship for his technical and human qualities, showing great attachment to the black and white colours. From the entire club, warm good luck to Bernardo for the continuation of his adventure.
Thus continues Masini’s tale: from Siena, a Contrada supporter of Drago, a Siena fan, during his career he had never managed to wear the shirt of his city’s team. It had come close, like the year in Serie D with Massimo Morgia on the bench (which then ended with promotion to Lega Pro), but the transfer never materialised. Until last summer, when Robur called him to bring Balzana’s colors back to Serie D, after yet another fall. And, as fate would have it, it was he who scored, in Borgo San Lorenzo, on Robur’s debut in the Regina category, the first goal of the new Juventus era; and he also signed the last one, in Foiano della Chiana, in the match with which Magrini’s team bid farewell to Eccellenza (even if the mathematical promotion arrived four days earlier in Sansepolcro): a perfect closing of the circle. Although the midfielder, born in 1992, had to deal with a few too many physical stumbles throughout the championship, in the end he finished with an excellent haul: 7 goals scored, with a surge in the final part of the championship, when he has found physical form and continuity again (his seasonal record is the 10 goals scored with the Pont Donnaz shirt, in the 2020/2021 season, in Serie D). And now the Bianconeri is ready to score many more, still wearing his Robur shirt.
