today’s results in the 13 municipalities on the ballot

Milan, 24 June 2024 – Score of the ballots of the municipal elections completed: revealed all the names of the new mayors. Yesterday and this morning, the citizens of 13 Municipalities of Lombardy. This round of elections included 960 municipalities. In the first round, 945 first citizens had been elected.

7 out of 13 municipalities are centre-left

On thirteen municipalities, seven went to the center-left (including Cremona, the only capital to vote), five to the center-right and one (Lainate) a a civic list, with results often on the razor’s edge and decided by a few votes at this point ten of the twelve provincial capitals of Lombardy are governed by the centre-left, one from a civic list (Como where Alessandro Rapinese defeated the centre-right and centre-left candidates two years ago) and one only from the centre-right, namely Sondrio. To the centre-right they went Porto Mantua (with Maria Paola Salvarani who prevailed over Vanessa Cribanti by 47 votes), Novate Milanese, Trezzano sul Naviglio in the province of Milan, Roman of Lombardy (Bergamo) and Chiari (Brescia). To the center-left Cremona (with Andrea Virgilio who obtained 191 votes more than Alessandro Portesani), Cusano Milanino, Paderno Dugnano, Settimo Milanese, and in the province of Varese Malnate and Samarate. In Lainate, in the province of Milan, has finally established itself the civic Alberto Landonio challenging the centre-right candidate Danila Maddonini.

Roggiani: “Pd asserts itself with strength”

“Great satisfaction with the results obtained in the ballots in Lombardy. The Democratic Party asserts itself strongly, winning important victories in Cremona, the only capital on the ballot, and in the municipalities of Samarate, Peschiera Borromeo, Cusano Milanino, Paderno Dugnano, Settimo Milanese and Malnate. These successes are the result of intense work team, the dedication of our candidates and the support of our voters, who believed in our project and our vision for the future. Now let’s move forward to respond forcefully to the needs and expectations of citizens”, he commented the deputy Silvia Roggiani, regional secretary of the Lombardy Democratic Party.

Fate: “5 municipalities torn from the centre-left”

“To the ballots the centre-right in Lombardy took five municipalities away from the centre-left. We won in Chiari, in Trezzano sul Naviglio, in Novate Milanese. In Porto Mantovano, where the center-left had governed for seventy years, we achieved a historic victory and in Romano di Lombardia, in the Province of Bergamo, where the left had governed for 10 years, a Forza Italia mayor triumphed and ours is the first breakfast party. I am satisfied and I thank all those who worked hard to achieve these important results. This electoral round has sanctioned the growth of Forza Italia in Lombardy, demonstrating that the direction taken is the right one. TURNOVER AND RESULTS

Andrea Virgilio is the new mayor of Cremona, the only capital city of Lombardy on the ballot. The centre-left candidate obtained 50.37% (13,014 votes) of preferences, while the challenger Alessandro Portesani 49.63% (12,823 votes), a gap of only 191 points.

TO Roman of Lombardy, Gianfranco Gafforelli, 71 years old, he was elected mayor with 53.55% of preferences (4,038 votes). The challenger is defeated Paola Suardi, which obtained 46.45% of the preferences (3,502 votes). Gafforelli, centre-right, is already known for having held the position of president of the province. In Porto Mantovano, the challenge was all female and not at all obvious: the center-right candidate Maria Paola Salvarani came out on top which he collected 50.41% of preferences (equal to 2,888 votes). Center-left candidate Vanessa Ciribanti defeated which stopped at 49.59% (2,841 votes). Respect the dynamics of the first round, when Salvarani had received 35.85% of the votes and Ciribanti 33.33%.

In Malnate the run-off challenge went to the centre-left, who was reconfirmed at the helm of the city in the province of Varese. Center-right candidate Sandro Damiani defeated which stopped at 47.75% of preferences, equal to 2,477 votes. The trend of the first round was reversed, with Damiani ahead with 31.38% of the votes and Cannito behind with 27.65% of the votes.

The candidate got it 64.06% of the preferences (4,694 votes), thus beating the challenger Danila Maddonini with 35.94% (2,633 votes). Alberto Landonio was the mayoral candidate supported by the civic lists Associations and territory, Landonio mayor, Democratic Union and Civic Pact Landonio mayor. With two terms as mayor behind him, from 2009 to 2019, five years as president of the city council from 2019 to 2024, Landonio achieved the hat trick. His opponent, Danila Maddonini, deputy mayor from 2019 to March 2024, centre-right candidate supported by Forza Italia, Noi Moderati, Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and its civic list “Common Project”.

Andrea Coden is the new mayor of Peschiera Borromeo with 55.35% of preferences (3970 votes). The challenger Mario Orfei instead he got it 44.65% (3202 votes).
