Carrarese’s new season will begin with the match against Catania. This is not the first round of Serie B (we will need to know the championship calendar on 10 July), but the preliminary round of the Italian Cup scheduled in just over a month, on Sunday 4 August. The Sicilians are returning from a rather troubled season, finishing in 13th place in group C with 45 points, 6 points behind the playoff zone and just 2 points ahead of the playout. What made Etna’s year less bitter was the victory of the Serie C Italian Cup, obtained thanks to the 5-4 aggregate inflicted on Padova in the final and which earned them access to the play-offs for promotion from which, however, Cianci and his teammates they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Avellino.

To get to the season debut against Catania in the best possible way, Carrarese’s preparation should begin on July 13th in Pontremoli, as announced by the coach Antonio Calabro himself. The Carrarese and Catania match will be played in a single match on the pitch of the best classified in the previous season, therefore Carrarese, who however in that period will have the Marmi stadium subjected to the ‘facelift’ it needs. The venue for the match, as announced, will therefore be the Romeo Anconetani stadium in Pisa. In this regard, the CEO of the Azzurri, Iacopo Pasciuti, announced on the YouTube channel of the Diocese of Massa Carrara that the objective of the company and municipal administration is to finish the works by the end of September, with the hope also of anticipating the goal of some time.

There are several works to be carried out: “The main works – explained Pasciuti – will be the replacement of the playing field, the installation of the turnstiles at the entrances and the adaptation of the lighting system. These will be carried out, which will require more time and more resources , we have other requirements that the Serie B League has notified us in recent days regarding the structure of the press room, changing rooms and seating.” To this will be added other interventions that will be defined in the next few days in collaboration with the Municipality. The fans, therefore, will have to wait at least until the fourth-fifth day of the championship before seeing the Azzurri in Carrara.

If Carrarese managed to overcome the Catania team in the preliminary round of the Cup, they would enter the round of 32 and would be placed on the left side of the scoreboard, where Cagliari is already waiting for them for the Serie A teams.
