“We are working continuously and constantly in all 73 cemeteries of the city“. This was stated in a note by the Lucca Riscossioni e Servizi company which rejected the criticisms received today from the PD municipal councilor, Enzo Alfarano.
“It has been in place for two years now a continuous green maintenance plan and the general conditions have significantly improved – explains the company -. The company also collaborates for the care of greenery with over twenty voluntary associations who directly deal with these aspects of local cemeteries. This collaboration is deeply felt by the local communities who are always interested in maintaining the cemetery, a place of worship and memory, in a decent state. Furthermore, in this last year, the company has also started maintaining the external part of the cemeteries and in some cases it carried out extraordinary interventions because over time the vegetation had grown uncontrollably”.
“It is clear that in these months between spring and summer – it is underlined in a note – the situation will never be perfect, the climate alternating very hot days with intense rain, making the climate more similar to tropical countries than to the temperate climate typical of our country, it causes vegetation to grow lushly and there may even be times where the grass may be taller than it should be. We remind all citizens that in Lucca there are 73 cemeteries located throughout the area, some very distant from others, which makes maintenance difficult. Also in the case of building maintenance, a three-year plan has been launched to intervene in the various structures. It should be underlined that in many cases we witness acts of vandalism which did not happen in the past, so many interventions, rather than being aimed at improvements, must restore the existing structure which has been defaced by vandals. For this reason we have installed automatic gates at the entrances to the cemeteries. Lucca Riscossioni e Servizi therefore invites correct dialectics and hopes for timely reporting of any critical issues, believing much less in a generic controversy that does not aim to solve problems, but only to spread propaganda”.
