The idea to remember forever the figure of an exceptional woman, a pioneer of professional teaching to women, died in Auschwitz concentration camp on 30 June 1944she had come to Antonetta Carrabspresident of the House of Poetry of Monza, who forwarded the request to the Municipality together with the Consortium of the Park and the Royal Palace of Monza, the Regina Margherita Literary Park and Valle Lambro Park and the Italian Literary Parks.

«Finally a dream I have been chasing for many years comes true – comments Carrabs excitedly – I confess that I have always been fascinated by everything Josz has done for others, especially for women».

Monza Park: arriving via Aurelia Josz, who he was

Born in Florence in 1869 to a Jewish family, Josz, after graduating in literature at a very young age, founded in Milan the first practical agricultural school for women where he was a teacher and principal unpaid. It was the first institute of its kind in Italy that was attended by the “Stelline”, the very young Milanese orphans. The school was then moved to Monza. Josz did his utmost to give less well-off girls an education and training that would allow them to find a dignified job, different from that of waitresses in wealthy families or simple peasants on farms.
To commemorate Aurelia Josz, the House of Poetry of Monza has established a Literary Prize and created a publication, some theater shows and a school-work alternation program with the students of the Modigliani Art School in Giussano who produced a video and a brochure.
