Milan, stadium in San Donato: Lombardy Region votes on program agreement

While Milan and Inter are examining the San Siro renovation project delivered last Friday by WeBuild to Palazzo Marino, the bureaucratic process for the new Rossoneri facility in San Donato continues as expected. The week opens with a long-awaited and important step: today, Monday 24 June, the council of the Lombardy Region will vote on the program agreement presented by the Municipality of the Milanese hinterland. “The Region has the role of promoting the program agreement which must be carried out in compliance with the ordinary rules. This does not affect the choices that Milan will have to make. I think that there is concreteness on the part of Milan to go forward”, explained the President of the Region Attilio Fontana on the sidelines of the Salute Direzione Nord event at Palazzo Lombardia. Then he specified: “The determination to carry forward the program agreement is there. However, I believe that Milan will now also have to evaluate WeBuild’s proposal on the renovation of San Siro but these are choices that do not concern the Region, which must comply with the its administrative obligations”.

process

On 19 April San Donato formally sent the request to join the program agreement to the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City, the FS Italiane Group, the Italian Railway Network, FS Sistemi Urbani and Sportlifecity. The objective of this process is to arrive at a hypothesis for the construction of the sports facility by overcoming the critical issues. In recent days, the first adhesion among the entities potentially involved had arrived, that of FS Sistemi Urbana, the leading company of the Urban Railway Hub. Now it’s up to the Region, waiting for the list to grow. And, obviously, waiting for feedback on WeBuild’s proposal.
