ANCONA – Fourth consecutive night of protest by students of the Polytechnic University of Marche to “demand the termination of academic collaboration relations” between the University and the University of Ariel based in the West Bank. Students slept in tents in the courtyard of the Economics faculty of the Univpm.
The Ariel colony, explain the university student association Gulliver – UDU Ancona, is located in a «territory recognized by international law as illegally occupied. The establishment of colonies is recognized by the Rome Statute as a war crime and the UNIVPM, by not interrupting relations with Ariel, is complicit in it” they declare in a press release.
«After the university’s no to the motion to interrupt the agreements, students decided to sleep in tents within the faculty – they explain -, in view of a second discussion, which will take place in the sessions of the Academic Senate tomorrow , Tuesday 25 June, and the Board of Directors meeting on 26 June. The UNIVPM is complicit, but not in our name.”
