“The Lega Salvini Calabria group in the Regional Council, of which I am honored to be the President, believes that Calabria has all the potential to become increasingly modern and efficient. And above all it believes that it – already today – can rightfully have the pride of not feeling inferior to anyone. It is not inferior to Sicily, which has an ancient special statute that for no reason in the world would it want to cancel in favor of greater centralization. Calabria is not inferior even to the rest of the Italian regions, given that the symbolic work desired by the current government (the Bridge over the Strait) will give prestige to our country in the world and will enhance our land.
This is why regional autonomy represents an extraordinary opportunity and not a problem: Calabria will be able to obtain more skills and more resources, demonstrating that it can do more and better than a central state which has historically increased the gap compared to other realities in the country .
The Regional Council will be able to wisely suggest the matters that the regional government can negotiate with Rome.
No fear, lots of pride and lots of confidence in the future: this is autonomy. We will demonstrate the value of Calabria.”
