Cardinal Massaia’s nurse Valentina Soriani, volleyball champion

ASTI The recently concluded competitive season was full of successes for the ASL At nurse Valentina Soriani, who has been working at the Cardinal Massaia hospital in Asti since 2017.

Captain of Alessandria volleyball, she and her team reached the top of the table in Group A of Serie B2, coming close to promotion after a heated series of matches in the play-offs. With her team she also gained access to the final four of the Coppa Italia Serie B, earning the individual award for best central defender.

Already a professional athlete until reaching the A2 series, since 2017 Soriani has been combining her work as a shift nurse in the medicine A department with extra-work commitments on the field, between training sessions and matches.

«I succeeded thanks to the willpower, dedication and invaluable collaboration of my colleagues in the department and of the nursing coordinator, Dr. Debora Bologna, without whom all of this would have been impossible», explained Soriani.

The athlete receives congratulations from the general management of the ASL: “We congratulate our nurse for the determination that has allowed her to combine her professional role with an important sporting achievement. Aware of how sport is a pillar of mental and physical health, we hope that Valentina Soriani’s testimony can be an example for other young people and colleagues to be included in the “champion team” of the ASL At”, declared the general manager of the local health authority Francesco Arena.
