Noas part of the checks carried out by the Catania Police Force, also aimed at prevention and repression of crimes related to drugs, the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Catania Fontanarossa Company, at the conclusion of a targeted investigative information activity, arrested a 40-year-old from Catania for “possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of trafficking”.
In this regard, the Army soldiers, on the basis of the operational elements acquired, intercepted him while, at high speed, he was passing, on board a Fiat Idea, in via Capinera in the Villaggio Sant’Agata district. The man, in particular, already known to the operators due to his previous judicial affairs, was then stopped for a check.
The investigators, also supported by another crew who intervened, first asked him to hand over any illegal items he may have on him. The 40-year-old, initially aware of the imminent and inevitable search, took from his briefs a package containing and 13 grams of crack.
Investigators, however, were certain there was more, so they pressed him to hand over other and, in fact, on the indication of the 40-year-old, they found, hidden in the glove compartment of the driver’s side door, another package containing 34 grams of cocaine and a perfectly functioning precision electronic scale. The drugs and the scales were seized. The search on his person and on the car, however carried out by the Carabinieri, gave no further evidence.
The 40-year-old, arrested, was instead made available to the Judicial Authority which then validated the arrest by requiring him to report to the Judicial Police.
