Claudio Gullo from Lamezia, driver of the Caffo 1915 Group and official testimonial of the Vecchio Amaro del Capo for motorsport for 18 seasons, was a guest of the Calabria FIM Delegation
Waiting for him at the Federal Motorboat Center in Cariati Marina is number 1 of the Calabrian Delegation Domenico “Mimmo” Imperiale together with his staff.
The talent from Lamezia, “protégé” of Pippo and Nuccio Caffo, was invited to Cariati to attend the CONI 2024 selections (the Final will take place in Sicily in October) for very young aspiring powerboat pilots.
At the start was a nice group of boys and girls who approached for the first time behind the wheel of the jet skis and inflatable boats made available by the Calabria Federation.
Claudio Gullo, already multiple Italian champion in motor racing and karting (the first and only Calabrian driver in history to win Italian titles in karting) and currently involved in the Italian offshore powerboat championship and in the European endurance championship driving a racing Chadron 25 s powered by Mercury, prepared and managed by the Neapolitan team Sorbino Offshore 24 and sailed by the expert and champion Diego Testa of Naples, is the only Calabrian driver to race at a high level in powerboat racing in the Endurance/Offshore racing boat sector ( in the past he obtained a 9th place in the world on his debut in the hydro GP circuit in Estonia in 2016) in addition to witnessing the sporting growth of the baby drivers he was able to test the race course set up with special buoys while driving his jet ski for competition, an important training session in view of the next water races that the standard-bearer of the Caffo 1915 Group will face shortly.
“I was happy to be able to be present at the CONI selection, seeing so many young people approach this sport with desire and dedication makes me happy, it reminds me of when I too, at 5 years old, followed my father Francesco in kart races and then tested him at the end of the race. Passion explodes from an early age, but then you have to find the right people to move forward. The Calabrian delegate Imperiale is doing his utmost to give these kids an opportunity for sporting growth. In my time I didn’t have the same luck, only my dad was able to help me in motorsport, then since 2006 I was supported by the King of Liqueurs Caffo. These new pilots are lucky in that they have this Delegation on their side which will certainly do everything to support you to be at the start of the next competitions and perhaps as early as 2025, on the competition fields, I will have some young people who will follow in my footsteps in the boat sector or those of driver Parrilla in the Jet Ski sector“.
