Mollicone murder, prosecutors ask for the conviction of the Mottolas – Last hour

The prosecution requests the conviction of Carabinieri Marshal Franco Mottola, aged 24, his wife Annamaria, aged 22, and their son Marco, aged 21, in the appeal trial for the murder of Serena Mollicone. The Attorney General Francesco Piantoni and the Deputy Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal Deborah Landolfi have filed the final brief with which on Monday they will conclude the indictment in the appeal trial for the murder of the high school student from Arce (Frosinone), who disappeared from home on the first June 2001 and found dead after three days in the Fonte Cupa woods in the nearby Anitrella area of Monte San Giovanni Campano.

Instead, acquittal was requested for the other two defendants, the carabinieri Francesco Suprano, due to the statute of limitations, and Vincenzo Quatrale, because the evidence did not reach the level of proof.

In the first degree trial, two years ago at the Cassino court, the defendants were all acquitted.

According to the reconstruction of the prosecutors, on the day of her disappearance Serena entered the Arce carabinieri barracks and from there into the Mottolas’ apartment where there was an argument, at the culmination of which the girl hit her head against a door jamb, losing senses; instead of helping her, the Mottolas would have left her to die and then abandoned her in the woods.

The trial will resume on Monday with the conclusion of the indictment by the two prosecutors and then the interventions of the lawyers of the civil parties. In the hearings on 2 and 4 July there will be interventions by the defenders of the five defendants. The sentence, after the replies, is expected by mid-July.
