Busto water polo, fatal penalties: promotion to Serie B fades

MESTRE (VE) – The dream of promoting Water Polo Busto fades away. Called to win with a two-goal margin, after the narrow defeat (9-8) in the first leg match at the Bocconi Sport Center in Milan (due to Manara’s unavailability), coach Crespi’s boys manage to overturn the result, surrendering 9-7 to Mestrina.

The Venetian team thus earns promotion to Serie B, while the Bustocca team remains with thebitter in the mouth not just to have missed 3 penalties in the two playoff gamesbut more generally for having paid for the end of the season, first squandering the lead in the group, then having to deal with the heavy and penalizing unavailability of Manara.

With much regret, Busto therefore remains in Serie C, despite having given the impression – for a good part of the season – of being the strongest team in the championship, before a final truly to be forgotten, due to its own faults and more…

Coach Crespi: “We’ll try again”

We started badly, making many mistakes, then we managed to get back into the game, trying to recover. But unfortunately it wasn’t enough. The bitterness is there, but we’ll try again next year. The year has been really challenging. I want to have an audience praise to the boys for putting their heart, soul and more into it, given that in the last period they had to travel around half of Lombardy at their own expense to train.
